Just the mere mention of a road trip brings a scary sized grin to my face and people start to back away. I get a little excited. Maybe you've noticed? I am currently in the process of planning a 3 week road trip around Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island (Canada) for October and the level of giddy requires naps at regular intervals.
With this, I bring you:
Pledge #4 : In Search of the Miraculous
My top 3 reasons for selecting this project:
1. There's a dog called, Lolly.
2. In Search of the Miraculous is a gorgeous name for a project.
3. It's a road trip to discover and photograph the magic in the simple things in life.
Lindsey writes:
I’ve chosen the title of my project to be “In Search of the Miraculous”, which comes from a project with the same name by the artist Bas Jan Ader, who set sail in his one- person ship in 1975 from the east coast to Europe. His voyage captures a similar romantic motive and adventurous pursuit that I not only admire, but wish to pursue. I believe he was setting out to solve a mystery for himself and leaving his artistic practice open for an intuitive process to take hold. I wish to pay homage to his playful spirit and daring determination as I drive cross-country discovering new places and making artwork as I go. Unlike the great Bas Jan Ader's fateful trip, I'm hoping to return safe and sound! Much of my work is inspired by finding and constructing scenarios from the simple magic of everyday life, and I desire to push my practice further by leaving it up to chance on the open road, allowing my ideas to change with every town and terrain.
Doesn't that just inspire you to hit the road and see where the magic will take you? And doesn't Lindsey White sound like a sweetheart?
If you'd like to help Lindsey out, you can visit her Kickstarter page or pop over to her blog and leave her an encouraging note. She's looking for some helpful ideas on where she should visit, or the music that you think should accompany her trip, or maybe you just want to tell her how cute Lolly is?
Best of luck, Lindsey! I hope you're successful in your fundraising and that your trip is overflowing with precious memories and joyous experiences.
